Russ Winstead, entrepreneur and "coffee shop missionary", developed the vision for Mission Coffee over a number of years.  He recognized the need to support the communities that are producing coffee that we all enjoy drinking. Some are just barely making ends meet. Russ believed that meeting those needs could become a reality if like-minded people would come together... and Mission Coffee was born!

Next, Russ tapped lifelong friend, Craig, to help bring his vision to life from a digital standpoint. Together, they further defined the mission, for Mission Coffee.

Mission Coffee has two priorities: Strive to provide the highest quality small batch coffee available and make a positive difference in the world, every day, with every cup!

Mission Coffee is all about changing lives. Most coffee is grown in rather remote places around the world by small family farms. We buy from Small Batch farmers that don't participate in the mass coffee markets. Normally, Farmers in remote regions sell the raw coffee beans to local Co-ops, which in turn sell to importers, which sell to distributors, which sell to roaster wholesalers, which sell to retailers that sell to you!  As you can see, it’s a long road for the “little bean”. However, it is a hard road for many of the small family farmers.

So, we do it different;  We work directly with the farmers and local co-ops; we endeavor to develop long-term relationships with these people, get to know them as friends and help provide for the needs of the families and the community.

Our business practices include a fair trade approach as we look to form long-term relationships that bring balance to their economy.  We want to make a difference  in the lives of the people and the communities we partner with. 

Additionally, we invest 10% of our profits back into these communities. We use this money to provide basic life needs and Christian education to both children and adults.
